Why Frostbiting?

Frostbite sailing is a unique type of sailing for a unique type of sailor that often includes a combination of uncommon boats, short courses and unique sailing venues.  The Saratoga Lake Frostbite Fleet looks to build on this frostbiting tradition.

It's cold, isn't it?

The winter is the best time for sailing.  Even though it's cold out, the frostbiting format will keep you warmer than expected.  With shorter races ranging from 10 to 20 minutes, this means you will get a lot of starts, mark roundings and boat on boat tactical situations.  All this moving around will keep you warm.
